For those of you who fight traffic every day to get to work, it’s time to make a change.  There are approximately 63,000 jobs on the Leeward Coast – a job for just about every adult in our Leeward community.  I invite you to consider being a part of this exciting job growth right here.

A unique opportunity is available to you on March 24, 2015, at the 3rd Leeward Job and Career Fair at the University of Hawaii – West Oahu.

With a theme of Connecting Leeward Residents with Leeward Jobs, the Fair will host businesses offering Leeward-based job opportunities, networking events with Leeward businesses and career education seminars to help you learn the skills and make the connections you need to find a job close to home. Businesses and organizations are offering many opportunities from a wide range of industries including: healthcare, food service, hospitality, retail, military, and administrative, as well as trade apprenticeships. Furthermore, HireLeeward.com continues to be a resource throughout the year, providing job opportunities and resources to residents.

Ensuring the success of the annual Fair are the many volunteers and partners that believe in Hire Leeward’s mission and came together to make this fair possible. I thank the many volunteers, community leaders and businesses for their dedication and commitment.

Oahu’s ‘Second City’ continues to grow into its role and many West Oahu residents are motivated to find work closer to where they live, spend less time in traffic and more time with their families.  The upcoming job fair is an excellent opportunity for Kapolei area businesses to tap into this labor pool.

The Hire Leeward initiative of ‘Connecting Leeward Residents with Leeward Jobs’ supports the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce goal of building Kapolei into a major job center, and the Kapolei Chamber of Commerce is pleased to be the fiscal sponsor and partner in the 3rd Annual Hire Leeward Job and Career Fair.

The Hire Leeward campaign is a five year campaign with the following goals:

  1. Encourage Leeward residents to seek Leeward jobs.
  2. Reduce traffic congestion to town.
  3. Encourage better coordination with Leeward job employers and job seekers.
  4. Encourage Leeward residents to buy from Leeward companies.
  5. Hold job training events.
  6. Improve the quality of life for Leeward residents.
